RedOctane made their mark on the world selling beefed-up dance pads for Bemani’s popular Dance Dance Revolution series. When they teamed up with Harmonix to release Guitar Hero in 2002, they were entering a then-dominated market of beat matching games produced by Bemani, this time employing a modified guitar controller, bringing a new game dynamic to Bemani’s less-popular Guitar Freaks franchise. It was not long before Guitar Hero became the runaway hit of the year, and the RedOctane/Harmonix alliance (now part of Activision and MTV, respectively) dominated the rhythm games genre.
First there were dance pads and now we have Guitar Hero. This game provides a more intense experience then the original games in the past. This game provides a variety of classic rock songs that the player can create from the game. In order to create the songs you will need to use a prerecorded track that will allow you to generate the songs. This game was fun to play and altered regular game players into rock stars.
It’s even enjoyable just holding the controller. One usually plays Guitar Hero in an upright position, and the strap attaches the guitar to you at or near your waistline - higher perhaps if you are very tall. The buttons for the frets are located on the left hand side and are easily reachable by your fingers.
The controller’s tactile nature, as well as the immediacy of the game’s content, led to its becoming a party game staple, and in a number of karaoke bars, it has replaced that venue’s more traditional client-produced entertainment. Due to its far-reaching popularity and more acceptance of the title as a social game, people wish to purchase guitar hero skins in order to personalize and improve the look of their own guitar-shaped controllers.
Don’t be surprised if you walk into a party and you see a group of people playing Guitar Hero. With the different rockband skins available, that in short time has become trendy, many people are not bringing their custom- made guitar skins to use while partying with their friends.
Purchasing a skin for guitar hero controllers has turned into a way to affirmatively influence the visually stimulating game environment already seen in Guitar Hero. Also, new life can be added to the social side of the game by personalizing your guitar hero controller.
Similar to the purchase of RockBand Skins, which recently gained popularity as a personalizing agent for that popular game, the Guitar Hero skin is fast becoming a staple at parties, with different players bringing their unique, sometimes custom-made skin to use while playing. Buying a skin for guitar hero controllers has become a way to positively influence the viscerally stimulating game environment Guitar Hero already produces. In addition, personalizing the guitar hero controller with such a skin can add new life to the social aspect of the game. As a result, many players buy skins for Guitar Hero so that they can personalize their controllers.
